Outlook Express 5 - Mail

SMTP Auth and SSL

Thrift Internet email may also be configured for SMTP Authentication and SSL encryption for outgoing email. Please note that SMTP Auth and SSL are optional and are not required to use Thrift Internet email.

For further information and setup instructions, see the links below. NOTE: Please configure SMTP Auth or SSL after first configuring your email program for your Thrift Internet email.

  • SMTP Authentication
  • SSL Encryption (outgoing)
  • SSL Encryption (incoming)
  • Open Outlook Express. Click the Tools menu and click Accounts.

    In the Accounts window, click the New button and choose Mail.

    Enter your name in the Display name field. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

    Choose I already have an e-mail address that I`d like to use. Enter your email address in the E-mail address field. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

    Enter your mail servers into the Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server fields. Click here for the list of Thrift Internet Mail servers. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

    Enter your email username or Thrift Internet email address in the format of username@Thrift Internet.net and email password in the Account ID and Password fields in lowercase letters. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

    Enter Thrift Internet in the Account name field. Make sure the Include this account in my "Send & Receive All" schedule is checked.

    Click Finish to complete the wizard and return to Outlook Express.

     


    Help us help you! If you contact Thrift Internet support for assistance please write down any error messages you get when trying to connect to the Internet. Include the name and version of your operating system and the exact text of all error messages. If this information is included in an online case submission or provided to a support representative, it will greatly speed up the troubleshooting process.

    Please be aware that some troubleshooting may require uninstallation and reinstallation of operating system files. To ensure that this type of troubleshooting can be accomplished if required, please be sure that you have to have original Operating System CD or Operating system source files on disk on hand.
