How to install the dialer
These instructions will help Windows users install the dialer to
establish a dialup connection to Thrift Internet. If you need assistance with making this change, please
call (866) 825-8899 and we will be happy to help you.
Step 1: You will need to download a copy of either
the setup tool or just the dialer. You can select one of the following.
If your machine is behaving well and you only want to change the
phone number, we would recommend getting just the Thrift Internet Dialer. If you seem to be having problems with connectivity,
email errors, or other weird problems, then I would get the Thrift Internet Setup Tool.
- The Thrift Internet Setup Tool completely sets up your computer
for use with your Thrift Internet internet account. It sets up your email accounts,
sets up your connection to the internet, and removes a bunch of
junk that can slow you down or cause problems. The Thrift Internet Setup Tool installs the Thrift Internet Dialer automatically so you will not need to download
it separately. To use it, click here
and hit the 'Open' button when your browser displays the download
dialog. Please be patient as this can take up to 5 mintues.
- The Thrift Internet Dialer is designed for people who only need
to connect to the internet and do not want their email setup or
any of their networking settings modified. To use it, click here
and hit the 'Open' button when your browser displays the download
dialog. Please be patient as this can take up to 5 mintues.
Step 2: After you have downloaded either the dialer
or the setup tool (you only need one) then you need to put in your
username and password.
- Thrift Internet Setup Tool Instructions: If you selected the Thrift Internet Setup Tool, then you will be presented with a screen
that asks you several questions that should be obvious to answer.
Make sure to put your new username in. After you finish answering
the questions and hit OK, your computer should be ready to connect
up. The setup tool does a lot of modifications to your system
so it may be a good idea to restart your computer.
- Thrift Internet Dialer Instructions: If you selected the Thrift Internet Dialer, then you will be asked if you want to install
the dialer. Hit ‘Yes’ on this and it will install
itself. You will then find an icon on your desktop that says ‘Thrift Internet Internet’. You can select it and put in your
new username and password, as well as choose a local phone number.
You should now be ready to connect up.
